Thursday Evening

Here I am again, just a silly little puppy who's getting to know his new home. One of my humans says I'm not her Charlie and that Charlie was one in a million. I don't know who Charlie was but I figure I'm pretty cute, especially when I don't sit in my water dish. I'm actually a boy, and I've been told I've similar table manners to another of my predecessors, Higgins - must've been a handsome boy. I still have to train these humans - they're a little slow, but they can be amusing, when they're not booooring! "Don't chew this, don't pee on that!" Well, we'll see about that!

Islay, Jewel of the Hebrides

My name comes from the Scottish island, the "Jewel of the Hebrides," Islay, but also from a statue of one of Queen Victoria's dogs, Islay, whose statue sits outside the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney collecting funds for deaf and blind children. (The QVB was one of my human's favourite spots in Sydney.) Here are some photos, but not of me as I have yet to sit for a photo without that I charge the camera with my nose -isn't that what those things are for?

I was thinking you were a girlie so glad that you explained the name and that your are a guy! You will be just as special as Charlie and loved just as much. You have picked out great folks to live with. Their training might take you a bit of time but it will come. Good luck with that.

Hi Islay, thanks for telling us more about your name and that you are a handsome boy doggie. Charlie was a good friend of ours and we loved her very much as did her humans. But we know in time they are going to love you just as much, perhaps in a different way but it is still LOVE and all good. We just know we are going to have tons of fun with you. Fenris is so excited to have a new friend to hang out with as his cats will not play with him. Well what if he stepped on up by accident?

Hey, Islay -- you've got your own theme song, too, "Isle of Islay" as sung by Donovan on his classic disc A Gift From a Flower to a Garden. A lovely song -- a bit wispy for a hardy lad such as yourself, but with a beautiful spirit.
