Wednesday Evening

Many thanks and my deepest gratitude for all of the wonderful animals and humans who have stopped by to share their sympathy, prayers and support as I brave each new day without my dear companion. Truly, it is a time that must come to all of us who open our lives and hearts to those creatures who, though they teach us so much about love, loyalty and indeed, humanity, must leave us all too soon. I would like to especially thank KeyWest Collies, Alassandra and the Cats - and dog, Jan's Funny Farm, Sassy, Karl and the Cat Realm, Asta, Momo and Pinot, Ludo, Opy, Leslie, Pye and Tigger, and Opus in Italy - the list just goes on and on - for all of the posts and messages - thank you everyone who has stopped by and left us a little note, and to everyone who has shared the last two years with us in blogland. I do not know how I would be getting through if not for all of you.

I have spent the last few days reading and re-reading again all of the posts on our blog and others, reliving those wonderful memories of the adventures over and over again. I detest lugubriousness, and I know Charlie would not have tolerated my tears at all, being the dignified and somewhat aloof dog that she was, but it will be a long while before I can stop putting my hand out, expecting to feel that wet nose and stately head, rubbing the soft fur between pricked ears, eager to hear my voice.

Once again,
Thank you, my friends everywhere

(Hugs) I know how hard it is to lose a beloved friend. I think that Charlie would understand your grief over her loss but I am sure she is faithfully waiting for you over the lake.

Our late cat Whiskers loved dogs and was always rescuing them. I like to think he was there to welcome Charlie and that they are playing and eating and having a great time together. ~Alasandra

Dignified and aloof, that sounds like Essex. Except for maybe when she goes crazy doing fence patrol. Then fence-she-opathic might describe her better.

We enjoyed the time Charlie spent with us. Is the picture one of Charlie in Texas?

Charlie might have been dignified and aloof, but we doubt she expected you to be the same. (For example, we inherited Jan's bad memory, not the other way around.) :) We're sure Charlie would be okay with your tears. Eventually grief is a part of love.

Time passes slowly but with each day a little of the sadness eases and the special memories you have will bring smiles again, Maybe later on you can put together a little tour of Charlies adventures for us....we would love to see all the places she went and the 'tails' she had to tell.

Sweet Mama de Charlie!

We just came back to our blog after being away for awhile, and discovered that Charlie has gone to the bridge to be with her brothers. We are so glad that she found you, and you her. It sounds like you have lived many lifetimes together and a lot of love has been shared.

We are sending you love from all of us here in GooberStan. Our hooman girl especially sends you love. She remembers when her first ever pup of her own, Rosie (another rescue Dale) went to the Bridge. She was amazed at how many times a day she expected to see or feel Rosie by her side; how much of her day was devoted to being with Rosie. She'll be thinking of you.

Thanks for that verse from Romans you put at the end of the previous post. I always like to hear about us pups (and kitties and hammies) getting in on the eternal life (as it should be).

We love you and are holding you in our hearts!

Run like the WIND, Charlie!

Goober love,
Stanley & Lisa

It was my pleasure coming and reading what Charlie had to say. I have lost three pets myself in the last year, so I know what you are going through, you be strong and God will see you through this. I know that every blogger that read about Charlie had to read it through tears, good-bye Charlie.

Hello Charlie's mom & family,

We wanted to check in to see how all of you're doing. We're still thinking about the time we met, how we exchanged emails through many others, shared happy memories so on... and we can't say thank you enough. We'd like to borrow one of your pictures and post it on our blog sometime soon. Hope it is ok with you.

It is so very hard. (We wish we had been here for you more over the last months. If you ever visited our blog, you know why) Joe is very sad for you and spoke of you and Charlie very highly.
Someday, the pain will ease some. And all those memories of all those years will bring a smile back to your face.
Charlie can never be replaced. You know that. They are all individuals. But in reading your blog, you sound like me. I have never not had a dog in my life. I hope you can find it in your heart to find another one, not to replace, but to love and be loved by. In your own time of course.
God Bless you.
We hope you stay in touch. Yours is too good a heart for us to lose.

We loved Charlie, and not just because she had a boy's name and I have a girl's name. She was a beautiful sweet dog, and we loved to see her photos.

Although Misery Mistress does not keep up to my blog very well these days, I did get her to write about Charlie on my last post as I do for all my special friends who go to the bridge.

Know how you feel.

I just wanted to drop by to see how you are doing.
Mickey turns 16 this summer and I dread the day when his time comes. We know it must and that is the price we pay for having them in our life. We would not have it any other way.
I just wish you did not have to hurt so much.

My mom says you will never stop wishing you could feel that special wet nose again. BUT - one day there will be a different nose there, hoping to get a pet on the head, eager to hear your voice - or two different noses, and you'll be a little less sad. We're thinking of you.

Your pal,
Joey
